Date and Time
July 8, 2025
On July 8, 2025, the Global Youth Development Alliance (GYDA) took part in the High-Level Meeting of the “AI for Good Summit” organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva. The forum convened ministers and senior policymakers from over 40 countries and global institutions including UNESCO, UNIDO, and regulatory agencies from Congo, Saudi Arabia, Canada, India, Brazil, Malaysia, Cameroon, and Kuwait.
The central focus of the gathering was on how regulatory systems must evolve to meet the twin demands of inclusive digital innovation and societal oversight. In particular, the sessions explored how governments can better:
- Balance market-driven growth with long-term digital inclusion
- Respond to emerging risks from new tech-driven business models
- Leverage AI, blockchain, big data, and IoT to improve regulatory agility and public trust

GYDA delegates also joined a guided visit to the ITU headquarters, gaining first-hand insight into how multilateral digital governance is shaped on a global stage. The participation marks a further step in GYDA’s commitment to bring youth perspectives into multilateral dialogue, especially in fast-moving domains like AI policy.

As part of its Signal Catcher – Governance & Geopolitics series, GYDA continues to open doors for young changemakers to understand and eventually influence the institutions shaping tomorrow’s tech-driven world.
